Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ('Terms') are a binding agreement between you and FinTribe. They govern your access to and use of our website, mobile apps, and services, including savings (contributions), fixed-income investing, your wallet and virtual account, and tribe (community) features. Please read them carefully — by creating an account or using FinTribe, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using FinTribe, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you use FinTribe on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
2. Eligibility
To use FinTribe you must be at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract, and be able to complete our identity-verification (KYC) requirements, including providing a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN). Our services are intended for users in Nigeria. We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts that do not meet these requirements.
3. Your account and security
You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping it accurate and up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials, transaction PIN, and any one-time passwords, and for all activity that takes place under your account. Do not share these with anyone. Notify us immediately at support@thefintribe.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
4. Our services
FinTribe currently offers the following, which may change over time:
- Contributions — structured savings you fund and that may earn returns where applicable.
- Fixed-income investing — subscriptions to fixed-income opportunities offered on the platform.
- Wallet and virtual account — a wallet and a dedicated bank account number, provided through our licensed partners, for funding and withdrawals.
- Tribes — community groups with chat, challenges, and milestones.
- Referrals — a programme that lets you invite others using your user tag.
We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. We are a technology platform; banking, payment, and custody services are provided by our licensed partners.
5. Deposits, virtual accounts, and withdrawals
When your account is verified, we (through our licensed partners) create a dedicated virtual account you can fund by bank transfer. Funds typically reflect in your wallet shortly after transfer. Withdrawals are paid to a bank account verified in your name; for your security, bank-account details are managed through verification and, where required, our support team. We may apply limits, holds, or additional checks on deposits and withdrawals to comply with our policies and applicable law, or where we suspect fraud or error.
6. Fixed-income investments and risk
Fixed-income opportunities on FinTribe carry risk. Indicative or expected returns are not guaranteed, past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results, and the value of an investment and the income from it can be affected by the issuer's performance and market conditions. Subscriptions may have a fixed tenor and a maturity date, and early access may be limited or unavailable. You are responsible for your own investment decisions; nothing on FinTribe is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Please make sure you understand the terms of each opportunity before subscribing.
7. Fees
Any fees that apply to a transaction or service will be disclosed to you before you confirm it, or made available in the app. We may change our fees from time to time; changes apply going forward. You are responsible for any charges imposed by your own bank or payment provider.
8. Tribes and community conduct
Tribe features let you interact with other members. You are responsible for what you post and share. You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, fraudulent, misleading, infringing, or otherwise harmful, and not to use the community to solicit others in violation of these Terms. We may moderate, remove content, mute, or remove members, and take other action to keep the community safe. Membership of a tribe affects only your tribe participation — it does not affect your wallet, virtual account, or other savings.
9. Referrals
Our referral programme lets you invite others using your user tag. Referral rewards (where offered) are non-monetary unless we say otherwise, may have qualifying conditions (for example, that a referred user completes verification or a first contribution), and may be changed or withdrawn. We may withhold or reverse rewards obtained through abuse, fraud, or self-referral.
10. Prohibited use
You agree not to:
- Use FinTribe for any unlawful purpose, including money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or evading sanctions.
- Provide false, inaccurate, or misleading information, or impersonate another person.
- Access another user's account, or attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or compromise the security or integrity of the platform.
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access the service except as we expressly permit.
- Infringe our or anyone else's intellectual-property or other rights.
11. Intellectual property
FinTribe and its content, branding, logos, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the service except as permitted by law or with our written consent.
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided 'as is' and 'as available'. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any expected investment return will be achieved.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FinTribe and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or investment value, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold FinTribe and its partners harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using FinTribe and close your account at any time, subject to settling any pending transactions. We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice — if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law or our partners, or to protect you, other users, or the platform from fraud or risk. Where we close your account, we will return any funds due to you to a verified bank account in your name, subject to applicable law and any holds required for investigations.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You agree that the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the service, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any concern.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the 'Last updated' date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of FinTribe after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
